Although an even number of bit errors within a single character cannot be detected with a parity bit, the addition of a parity byte allows us to detect this error. The parity byte provides the ability to detect bit errors on a per-column basis instead of per-byte, as long as there is not an even number of bit errors in a column.
Even number of bit error can be indentified using hamming codes and it can detect up to two simultaneous bit errors, and correct single-bit errors thus, reliable communication is possible when the Hamming distance between the transmitted and received bit patterns is less than or equal to one.
I think the question is not clear...... First only single error can be detected using Hamming code technique........ Inorder to find even bit error we use Hamming code technique which performs the even parity function.....
hamming code(linear error correcting code) technique can be used.A parity bit is a bit added to ensure that the no of bits with the value one in a set of bit is odd or even.In this technique 'k' no of parity bits are added with 'n' no of data bits. The position no with the power of two is assigned for parity.
BY ADDING ANOTHER PARITY BIT TO THE CODED WORD IN ORDER TO DETECT DOUBLE ERRORS.....
